GRAPEVI
Negativity is a wellspring of defeat and backwards motion.  It is a collapse of progress and a reversal of fortune.  Much to the surprise of many, the opposite of love is not hate, but fear.
  • The BIG news I have to announce will be official on April 1st (or as I like to say March 32 since it is my birthday.)  The next newsletter should have all the details.  In the meantime…
  • Check out the radio show line-up for March.  I have great guests lined up.
  • I will be doing monthly readings on the first Saturday of each month at Deborah’s Natural Gourmet www.debrasnaturalgourmet.com in West Concord Mass.  Swing by and have your astrology chart read.  If you live far away, call me at 978-264-0668 and set up time for reading.
  • I was a guest on Nancy Wallace’s radio show.  I took many calls and did readings for people on the air.  It is great to be invited as a guest on radio shows.  Its fun to be on the other end of the microphone for a change.
  • I have been very busy working on new material.  I currently have four new mandalas in the works.
  • All the radio shows are sitting up on iTunes as podcasts and you can listen or subscribe to them for FREE.  They are a smash! Click here: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=264837097

  • There is a web-forum that also allows you to offer ideas, discussions and comments on shows to come or shows gone by.  I have a regular site on the Contact Talk Radio web so check there for the calendar of guests. AS ABOVE, SO BELOW:
This past month we witnessed two eclipses; an annular solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse.  The lunar eclipse was very visible on the East Coast of the United States but will not be visible again until the year 2010.  Eclipses typically signal great changes astrologically.

This month also contains the Vernal Equinox which occurs on March 20th and heralds the end of the zodiacal cycle and the ingress (movement) of the sun into Aries.  The equinox is so named because on these days (there is another one in September called the Autumnal Equinox), the amount of light is equal to the amount of dark.  The daylight remains as long as the night.  From this day forward, until the summer solstice in June, the days gradually lengthen and daylight overtakes night.  It is also the first day of spring and begins the cycle of thaw, growth, and fertility for nature, man and the cosmos.  If you have specific questions or want an accurate reading, you can always email me at chris@chrisflisher.com

Forecast:

<>Thankfully our pesky friend Mercury stationed direct on February 18th and will not go retrograde again until May 26th in Gemini, which should be especially exciting (or NOT) since Gemini is ruled by Mercury.  For the time being, issues surrounding communication should have abated to some extent.  Additionally, Mars continues his forward motion and will ingress (move) into the sign of Cancer on the 4th of March.  Unfortunately, Mars is not especially happy in Cancer per se.  Mars represents fiery energy and is dampened by the reclusive water and emotional realm of Cancer.  Think back to November and December of 2007, when Mars was last retrograding in Cancer to get an impression of the temperament.  The good news is that Mars embodies action and is moving forward as the zodiac wheel cycles into fire sign Aries.  The natural square (tension) that occurs between the Sun in Aries and Mars in Cancer will undoubtedly trigger a few heated, emotional battles during the month.  Tread softly as aggression (Mars) and emotion (Cancer) square off.

Meanwhile Saturn continues to retrograde through the early degrees of Virgo.  Saturn will remain retrograde in Virgo until early May.  Saturn is not entirely unhappy in Virgo since it is the sign of details, health, and service.  Tend to health issues, start new exercise programs (as the weather improves), and offer service to others to get the most out of the motion of Saturn.  Meanwhile, Pluto continues to move into Capricorn and is stationed at 0 degrees Capricorn until the 9th of March when it moves to 1 degree.  0 degrees of any cardinal sign (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) is especially sensitive and worth noting.  The results are clearly seen in the failure of large institutions, (banks, mortgages, governments) and earth-based initiatives.  Pluto is the great transformer and tears down all that does not serve progress.  By the same token he rebuilds stronger than before, but only if the lessons are learned.

Each person’s chart is unique.  For details of the impact of these planets in your chart, contact me for an in-depth reading.  Focus on positive events and always be open to possibilities.  Personal readings are always available by emailing Chris at chris@chrisflisher.com.  Visit http://www.chrisflisher.com/astrology for Fees and Services.

Astrology 101: Eclipses

Since mankind first witnessed an eclipse; they have been viewed as ominous, daunting occasions.  Granted, any major change in the sky could easily be misconstrued as a premonition.  Certainly, if I were a caveman and saw the sky darken or the moon disappear, I’d run for my cave as well.  Add to that, the flurry of activity and confusion in the animal kingdom and we can soon begin to understand their impact.  Despite all of the mythology surrounding the eclipses, modern man has a much better handle on what actually happens during an eclipse.  Although we understand them from an astronomical standpoint, their significance in astrology remains quite potent.  Despite a widely held misconception, astronomy and astrology are two very different areas of study.  Trust me, NASA does not follow the movement of the planets in the same manner that astrologers do, however, they would be well-advised to do so.  Many mishaps and deaths could have been avoided had they listened to an astrologer.

Back to eclipses, the word eclipse is derived from Greek and it literally means “I cease to exist,” (no wonder they were so feared.)  They are also referred to as a “syzygy” which refers to three planets in alignment.  An actual eclipse involves the alignment of the sun, the earth, and the moon so that the reflection of the sun is blocked by the position of the earth or vice versa.  Essentially, the period of time that it takes for the planets to transit (move), the reflection or light of the sun or moon is gradually blocked until it is completely covered.  At that point the umbra or outer ring of the planet is visible only.

From an astrological standpoint, an eclipse is a time that heralds great change; and typically they are BIG changes - new jobs, babies born, divorces, etc.  The theory is that while the light of the moon or the sun is blocked , the energy or impact of the other planets is more widely felt. Think of it as a window of change.  Some see them as a moment of opportunity while others view them with dread.  Depending on the position of your natal planets, eclipses can be quite profound.  They signal an ending and a chance to begin again.  The affects of the eclipse typically appear up to 6 weeks leading into and out of the actual eclipse.  For more a more detailed understanding of how an eclipse affects your natal chart you need a professional astrology reading.  Each eclipse occurs at a specific degree in the zodiacal wheel.  That degree has importance to any one with significant planets within orb (placement ) of that degree.  The only way of determining that is to have your chart cast professionally.  For more in-depth discussion of astrology, contact Chris.  Personal readings are always available by emailing Chris at chris@chrisflisher.com.  Visit http://www.chrisflisher.com/astrology for Fees and Services.

SPIRIT IN ART:
“Eclipsipalian” – I created this mandala during an eclipse of the sun in April of 2004.  The word I coined for the title of this mandala is a hybrid of “Episcopalian” and “Eclipse.”  Obviously the first question that comes to mind is why the word “Episcopalian?”  and I would agree.  However, I was raised the son of a preacher man and that preacher, my father, was an Episcopalian minister and a wonderful, kind soul was he...; hence, the name.

Eclipsipalian

Eclipses are astronomical and astrological events that herald great change.  In the world of astronomy they are easily described.  In the study of astrology they signal great upheaval in the charts of people who fall within the range of the eclipse.  The word eclipse is derived from Greek and translates as “I cease to exist.”  However daunting that expression may sound it also gives birth to a time of great opportunity.  Not all endings or changes are bad.  Relationships, jobs, living arrangements don’t always work, yet sometimes we need to go through them in order to emerge stronger.  When the lesson is learned, progress is made.
